The Stone Skippers....river fun in a pair of Rans S7's

Thanks to the very generous M6RV6, I've been able to evaluate his new camera finally for some BCP videos. The DJI Osmo is kind of like a GoPro, but attached to a handheld 3-axis gimbal stabilizer mechanism. The footage it produces is straight up smooth! Of course, you need to be willing to run around holding it and pointing it at your subject.

This is just a fun video running around with Greg and Paco, so not much artsy production, but I did experiment with shooting the entire thing in 4K at 60fps. For some reason Youtube hasn't processed it yet for 2160p though. It's crazy high resolution with super smooth motion.

I used a thread-on polarizer, but perhaps a little too much. The sky looks like it's from another planet. It still wasn't dark enough to stop down daylight enough to run a slow shutter speed for blurring the prop. Luckily, at 60 frames per second, the prop effect isn't as offensive.

Caution for little ears and church ladies: I do drop the F-bomb once, in regard to some loud chickens.

Thanks again George! You will enjoy this camera.

I really enjoyed that one - great resolution and cool angles. I really liked the shots over Paco's shoulder on that final approach. Not sure why, the turn to final from that stabilized perspective seemed like something you'd see in an imax film.

Really awesome camera quality. Wow. Gorgeous video comes out of a relatively normal lighting day.

Looked good..... but for some reason youtube would only let me go to 1080p 60.

How did your machine handle the 4k raw video during processing? I figure its a massive load on the machine.

The content was awesome btw. Felt like I was back home on the Mighty Muskingum.

Or the Willamette!

Paco a Brony? Those stickers are fucking sweet. =D>

It took Youtube several days to cook the 4K version, which requires a pretty fat pipe and a good video card to play anyway.

It's not really an OBP video, unless all it takes is Swingle to qualify. 8)
