The TFR lunacy season is well underway...

Here is what the coming year (and well beyond) holds for those of us in Colorado (and elsewhere, for sure):

http://tfr.faa.gov/save_pages/detail_1_9482.html

There are two 10 nm "no fly" with 30 nm "pretty much no-fly" zones:

http://tfr.faa.gov/save_pages/detail_1_9482.html

The list of prohibited flying pretty much excludes all recreational flying for those of us lucky enough to have our irrelevant politicians stop in the area for canapes and caviar.

We recently had a TFR that was literally a MOVING TARGET- the pres was traveling on a bus through Virgina and western NC, and the TFR was following him and his cronies in real time.

And with several major universities and other venues in the area we also have the plethora of sporting events that you MUST avoid, and yet they won't tell you where or when they are. Jackasses...

I wouldn't sweat these two TFR's...the wx is going to be crappy especially on WED. I know I wouldn't stand out in the middle of a blizzard to see him!!..and the flying won't be any good anyway.

In an article tonight in the local rag about the upcoming excution (barring last minute reprieves) of a local bad guy they were talking about all the preparation involved. One item was : "closing the airspace". I found that interesting......

Obama was here in the Seattle area a while back with the same sort of TFR. The inner 10nm circle was indeed pretty much a no-fly zone, but it was possible to fly in the 10-30 nm circle by jumping through a few hoops: file a flight plan, discreet squawk, be in contact with ATC ("under positive control"-- ha!) while in the TFR. A pain in the ass to be sure, but not a deal-killer by any means.

Well... speaking of 30 mile restrictions, Mr. Oh-Bummer is here in SoCal today, and he certainly brought his TFR with him. He will be gone tomorrow sometime I understand.

But I must happily agree with Hotrod... this is by far not as bad as it could be. The fact that you can fly at all when he's around , as long as you jump through a few minor hoops... is a blessing compared to how much worse it could have been.

If any of you intel spooks, G-men or TSA types are watching this forum, please send my sincere thanks to whoever put in the effort to preserve the average pilot's ability to fly in the vicinity of a sitting president with as little difficulty/restriction/clearance as it now is. Oh, and send a nice thanks to Dillon, the mfg. of that little SUV mounted minigun that follows him around. I'm sure that this weapon's response capability played a big part in it.

...As long as what you want to do doesn't include sight seeing, flight training, flight testing, aerobatics, pipeline patrol, ag spraying, practice instrument approaches, ultralighting, hang gliding, glider ops, banner towing, parachuting, seaplane ops, animal control, balloon ops, model rockets or planes...

Sure, it's wide open. I mean seriously. Sight seeing?

I think I know how all this nonsense will look like in 20 years. I already know what the nonsense from the past 20 looks like.

Incrementalism. And also the privilaged class. If even a percentage of those knuckleheads in DC lived instead in the real world then the real world would be a lot better place. Just go back to grazing with the herd and everything will be ok.

We were excited to heli in Silverton — until we saw the bird. Looking like something your stoner uncle built in the garage out of four Meccano sets, a fish tank, and an AMC Pacer, this helicopter seats a pilot plus two only, making it a tricky vehicle, logistics-wise, when your group has 8 people in it. I love it!

And we just keep re-electing the same guys and gals and expect a change.

It doesn't matter what party they are in, a career politician is a career politician. The all suffer the same infliction. :^o

Go to the voting booth and tell yourself that your guy is different. He's a good guy.

I don't care, change them. None of them are that special that they should be provided special status.
