The ultimate ceiling fan for a hangar

Big Ass Fans, the name pretty much says it all. Nice winglets, all nine of them! http://www.bigassfans.com/usa

One of my side jobs I do is ordering stuff for our unit. A catalog for this company came across my desk just the other day. They advertise that several Air Force bases are currently using them. Pretty innovative compared to the old ceiling fan...they got nothing on the new smooth air Dyson fan though.... :^o

There is one of those at the new FBO at Sacramento International. When I fly commercial I'll fly my plane there. It is really an awesome looking fan. However I took passengers there once and probably made too big a deal out of the fan, because they just glanced up and kept going. Its probably a pilot thing with the winglets and all.

Is it just me? Don't you just hate it when there's no price listed on a product website and there are no dealer listed prices either. In the case of Bigassfans, they want you to fill out a form to get a quote. No way . . . they just lost a potential customer for not being up-front.

If you have to ask the price of the yacht you can't afford it. :D

Very nice fan though, I might have to rivet some aluminum winglets on my 3 blade Home Depot fan in the hangar, to reduce wingtip vortices. (I don't have a yacht either)

Some of the junk mail I use to get at work was a flier for Big Ass Fans. William "The Refrigerator" Perry was their spokesman at the time. I'm not sure that says much for his post-retirement career, but it's better than what OJ has done in his retirement.

Down here in hot south texas, we have farmers that use old wind mills as ceiling fans. It seems to work pretty good.

Re: The ultimate ceiling fan for a hangar

The local Wal Mart here in Mount Juliet has fans very similar to these in their outdoor section where they keep their seasonal goods. This area is not heated or air conditioned, but there are 2 of these fans hanging in there and they seem to make a big difference. We have considered ordering one for our hangar, but nobody at the store can seem to tell us who supplied them for the building. I am sure I would have to find the building contractor to get that info. They do nto have winglets and look to be more "contractor grade" than the ones on this link. I do not think anyone would hang the ones I am referring to in a yacht, but it would look just right in a hangar. Probably cheaper than these as well.
