The Worlds Fastest Indian

It is not about airplanes, but I know most of us ride motorcycles too. Really cool movie based on a true story. I have seen it before. Just watched it again and liked it more. Here is the Wikipedia link. The movie is free on Netflix. Burt died in 1978 at 78 years old. His 1967 record at Bonneville still stands. On a 47 year old Indian. Amazing.

It is the rare film that qualifies as both a gearhead movie and a chick flick all rolled into one. You can get points for watching it with your significant other regardless which movie type is your preference. Highly recommended. We need the aviation version of this film. Any good script writers out there?

Re: The Worlds Fastest Indian

Great movie! =D> I did a Google search on Burt and his bike, the man’s ingenuity and the parts he designed and made for his bike were truly impressive and better yet where he found material and what he used, cylinders were made from used/condemned gas pipe, his connecting rods were made from an old Caterpillar tractor axel and it goes on and on, this guy is on the top of my list of all-time great gear heads. I found a large picture, poster size, of him and his bike on the salt flats, I plan on framing it and hanging it on the wall of my garage/shop, perhaps with my own alter to the Gods of speed.

One of my favorites. Hopkins played him pretty well.
