Three cheers for Z!

Well done there Z, I was concerned when the words under the upgrade changed to "this could take upwards of two years"!

You are a trooper.

Re: Three cheers for Z!

My neck is wound up like a rawhide chair... Some days I want to just revert back to the old forum-only site, but we have so much potential here with the new one.

Sorry for the downtime, everyone. I changed a bunch more stuff today. As always, clear your cache.

Thanks for sticking around through these time. It'll eventually hit a smooth patch.

I about fell over when I read the "two years" part! Been there, understand the frustration level!

I think the site is wonderful and the bugs will eventually get knocked down to a point that you can focus more on other things!

Re: Three cheers for Z!

I am in AWE of all the work that Zane has put into this site. I call it "Eye candy for the flyer" now. WOW! What great images, and the design is beautiful. If there are awards for web sites and their appearance, this one should win all the big awards, in my opinion.

I've had issues posting on the site and annoyed Zane with some questions....just what he needs, of course. But, the functionality is improving daily, it seems. For a computer troglodyte like me, it's amazing I can even open it.

It looks GREAT, and I'm simply in awe at all the work that Zane has put into this site.

Thanks, it's a treat to surf this site.

This might have been my first post on the new site.

Z did you know that the submit button is blank?
You probably did, but I thought I'd mention it to you anyway.
Sorry about that

To be more efficient, browsers will stored locally some of the code that makes a web page display how it does. It's more efficient because your machine doesn't have to redownload the same files over and over again, using network bandwidth and causing delays. This is called caching.

In this time of frequent code changes while I try to fix errors and speed things up, you may be looking at outdated code stored in your cache instead of getting the fresh stuff. The solution is to clear your browser cache. If you don't know how, Google "how to clear cache for ___insert browser name___"

In one case, a guy up in BC who uses satellite Internet was having issues that turned out to be his satellite box caching stuff. There was no way he could clear that cache since it wasn't his personal machine. A call to the provider solved the issue.

Also, and I say this time and again, even though people have chided me for be a "browser evangelist," DO NOT use a version of Internet Explorer older than v10. In fact, don't use IE at all if you have the option of using Safari or Chrome or Firefox. Older versions of IE don't play nice with newer web standards, and are slow to run certain code.

That said, I have no idea what your environment is so I can't give much advice other than the above.

Nice to hear from you :)

What version of Firefox? Windows or Mac? This is what it looks like on my Mac with the latest Firefox:

I finally see what you mean. The submit button is green, but becomes blank while the mouse button is down.
