Three Week PNW Vacation

Stacey and I are on vacation for the next few weeks and we will be flying all over the Northwest. I'll use this thread to document the journey. We started our trip yesterday with the Powers fly-in. That is a neat strip and a great part of Oregon that I've never been to before. Lucas Lodge was great this morning, we will definitely be going back! Where else can you fly into and get a home cooked all you can eat breakfast for $8.50?!

Watch out for cars crossing the runway! I hear there has been more than one accident here between cars and planes!

Rob your killing me man! Naw just kidding thanks for the pictures. I got spoiled over the past few years I guess because watching sand blow by in 110 degree weather isn't my idea of a good time. Fly safe out there and I look forward to getting my flying fix from looking at the pictures you post. I've already watched our Lake Pillsbury vid about 10 times since I've been here :P

I am running Piper up to Coeur d'alene for business meetings. I'm meeting up with my uncle, who is also in a S model Bo. We will be adventuring around the area in my 180. Let's try to meet up at Schafer on Thursday, Friday or Saturday?

This goes for any or all of you.....
I'm just off "Cabin Creek", towards Kalispell. Great fuel prices there. My strip is "Hanson" on the Great Falls sectional. Stop on by and take a look at this year's crop of baby Clydesdales! PM me and I'll shoot you my cell # if you think you'll be by!

Hopefully you get your stab fixed and can join us out at JC!

I'm spending a couple days with my parents in Vancouver right now. I had to go warm up the oil this morning so I could change it, so we hit a few grass strips and also went out to Cottonwood Island.

This cool little seaplane base is just south of Woodland on the Lewis River, you can see a couple Cubs on floats. They used to takeoff and land wheeled planes from the grass.

Re: Three Week PNW Vacation

Trading in the 170 eh? What time will you be flying up there, Tom? I'm trying to figure out what we are going to do the next few days. The weather isn't looking too promising.

Re: Three Week PNW Vacation

Well.....hearing you already got Stace preg., I can see how inclement wx grounding you would suck.
But, if the wx is passable, I will be departing right when I get off shift in the morning. I'm sending my buddy in his SC ahead of me when I know I'm free and clear of the station at 0800, then I should be departing a half hour later and try to catch him before Yakima.
Then we shall induldge in Carbon Cub porn before returning home. He's leaving his Cub and riding home with me.
That being said, we should be through your area northbound around 1030 ish. Then returning 1200-1300 ish. We usually gab back & forth on 123.45 if your out and about. That would be cool to be intercepted by you for a little low level cross county work.
Hope to see you tomorrow.

Re: Three Week PNW Vacation

Rob: Check out Cashmere(8S2). Weve got a courtesy car here. Strip is 1800 ft and the airport is well manicured here. Camp onsite next to the pilot lounge. Leavenworth is 15 minutes away. The fruitstands are open and the cherries are comin in now. Lots to do around here this time of year. Country Boys BBQ in Cashmere cant be beat! Lots of little breweries around also. Ill pm u my cell number and I can answer any questions or give ya any tips for the area if you decide to come this way, just send me a text. Have fun!

Re: Three Week PNW Vacation

Stacey and I have always wanted to go to Leavenworth so we followed Jaredp's advice and flew up to Cashmere to borrow the courtesy car. On the way up the weather was better than I was expecting yesterday and we stopped in at Tieton State Airport on the way. After we spent a couple hours looking around Leavenworth and eating lunch we flew out to Wenatchee for some fuel then flew home past the west side of Yakima then across the north side of Mt. Adams.
