Thrown out every 5 seconds

Why am I logged out every 5 seconds or so?

The last few days, I can't stay logged in long enough to even look at new posts.

EDIT: seems to work once again, after cleaning out cookies. At least I hope it is back.

Re: Thrown out every 5 seconds

It's difficult to diagnose the problem you're having from afar, especially when I can't reproduce the issue.

The authentication for the forum is cookie-based. When you log in, the software places a cookie with certain identifying information readable only by your browser and this website when it's later requested. There are a few reasons why that cookie might not be available when you need it.

What web browser are you using? Internet Explorer? Firefox? Safari? Chrome?

If using IE, do you have your security settings too tight? Often that can cause problems with the cookie setting/retrieval.

Do you have an antivirus or anti-adware/malware/spyware software that scans your browser's program files?

Re: Thrown out every 5 seconds

Thanks for the replies.

No doubt, MTV, I could be nicer... good one!! =D>

Have checked security settings, etc., and don't see anything screwy, but will see what it does, I guess.

As for it being my computer, this is the 9th aviation forum I check out on a regular basis, and I have never had trouble in any of the others..... so maybe it's the moon. ](*,) I've just never gotten chucked off so fast from any site.

I'll see what it does. Thanks for the help..

Re: Thrown out every 5 seconds

AAARGH!!! Why do I get bumped out while I'm replying? I dont' write long posts, but I sign in and by the time I submit, I'm asked to sign in again. And naturally, everything I wrote is lost. Way too frustrating. It doesn't happen every time, but often enough to discourage me from posting more often (maybe that's the point???).

Re: Thrown out every 5 seconds

I was thinking tonight I had gotten past this, but then it threw me out, too, while trying to reply.

Same deal -- I have no idea why.

I just keep trying, mostly to see how long I can stay logged in. It never happens anywhere else....

Re: Thrown out every 5 seconds

Everything is fine on my end!

After your done typing what you want to post (before you hit "Submit"), highlight, and copy what you wrote encase you need to paste it in the next page or box.

Re: Thrown out every 5 seconds

dhc. That was happening to me a couple weeks ago, both here and on SC.org. I deleted cookies and it didn't help. I use a satellite service (wildblue) that was so,so. Earlier they sent me an "optimizer" to down load to speed up everything. Ended up un-installing that, and am back to normal. John

Re: Thrown out every 5 seconds

This totally sucks - I've answered someone's post, hit submit, and 75% of the time I'm told I need to be signed in to reply, which I already was. Any way you can let me know I've been bounced out BEFORE I hit submit???

I've learned to do that in the last little while too. I get kicked off overy few hours. Just on this forum. It's too bad too because it's my favorite forum.

I don't know if this has anything to do with it but there is an error when the page finishes loading. The details are pasted below.

I second the copy and paste option before submitting posts but getting bumped every few seconds (or even 5 minutes) seems excessive. Does this happen on other sites? If so, a call or e-mail to your ISP might help. Could be a timeout setting on your end that can be adjusted.

Good luck. These kinds of things are enough to make one join an Amish community.

I have problems like that if I come here through AOL. Firefox works great and even keeps my spelling looking good.

Re: Thrown out every 5 seconds

Just happened again. Weird. I was just browsing the site for a while and it just logs me off. Happens more often on my laptop in the living room.

ASW.

Me too. I type real slow so it usually takes 10 min to get it together to submit and by then it is too late so I rarely post anything.

Re: Thrown out every 5 seconds

Guys, I am not going to work on this problem. It's difficult to diagnose without having access to your machine and your browser, as it does not happen to me, ever. I can't recreate it.

I've been working pretty heavily on the new version of the website lately. Hopefully that will solve things.

Sorry.

Re: Thrown out every 5 seconds

The only times that I get dropped off, kicked off, loose a signal, etc., is when I'm sitting in some hotel rooms or any other public area that has free Internet. I never have a problem at my house, my friends house, and my sisters house. I'm going with that it (lost connection) has nothing to do with this website. Just my 2 cents.
