tipped over crane owned by a pilot

A neighbor, right down the road a mile or so, who flys, among other aircraft, a 300 horse Pitts. I helped out, and did it for free....then backtracked and mentioned how a ride in the Pitts would be adequate compensation. We're talking 300 horse power in a maybe 1,000 lb plane, oh yeah that will be more then adequate! Too much weight too far out is why it tipped, no mystery, and no injuries so we all had a pretty good time what with all the equipment to play with. A D-6, a big rubber tired loader, big trac hoe, and my crane. NO media coverage, so I guess it didn't really happen.

The Pitts is down for recover, at the factory in Afton. ONLY 34 k for a full recover, by the same guy who did it when new 20 years ago.Image Almost what I have in my entire plane!

Re: tipped over crane owned by a pilot

And one more aviation/crane picture, taken at KPIH (Pocatello) the day after returning from JC. I've been doing some work on the ramp related to a multi million dollar upgrade to the terminal. The signs proudly proclaim the work is being funded by the Homeland Security Agency and the Economic Stimulous Program. Security is tight, as I was not on the APPROVED list of contracted help working near the passenger loading area ( 2 or 3 flights of a Metro liner every day, we are NOT talking O'Hare type traffic here) so the local Poky police officer kept a close eye on me the entire time. I never did tell him I could go home, fly back out, and walk where I choosed!

As you can see, they take it seriously, and one sign, or two or three wasn't enough. Four, yeah that's the ticket. I had hopes of at least one these may be "surplus", and I could snag it for my place but no luck.

I saw the headline and said.... Oh Crap, courrierguy tipped over him rig...

Glad it was not you, glad to see no one was hurt and damage looks minimal.

Save this pic and we probably never see the area this green this time of year in our lifetime.
