TR:Inland passage Cruise - Alaska

Well I'll do the best I can to relate the Alaska Cruise.

Image

The Norwegian Star as seen from the Space Needle in Seattle.
971 feet long, 105 feet Beam, 91,740 tons, cruise 24 knots. 13 restaurants, 10 Bars & lounges, 1100 Seat Theater. Big Boat.

Aboard the Star leaving port.

Fishing and Logging show in Ketchikan. Caught 12 keepers, 4 King Salmon and 8 Pink Salmon. Biggest one was 22 pounds. Should be recieving them Tuesday. Getting the smoker going 8)

Image

Beaver in Juneau. Man Pilot heaven. Never seen the like of float planes as in Ketchikan and Juneau. Beavers and Otters. 8)

Glacier seeing from the Star. Tracy fjord, Glacier? Yep had to put on a sweatshirt and cap. Bit chilly around all that ice.

Scenes from the White Pass & Yukon Railway. Cool trip!

Sampling the "Wine" Had to laugh, kids said Dad is that all you get? I had to explain that Wine in a restaurant is measured, not like at home where I fill up a tumbler

Image

Prince Rupert Canada, nice town, Pretty country, again Beavers and Otters.

Back home Safeco field for a Mariners game.

7 days of family and fun. Endless food on the boat. I ate my share of biscuts and gravy, bacon  Oh yeah. Glad I didn't go to Alaska 25 years ago, I may have never came back. Only rain was while fishing. Mostly calm seas. I figure a cruise ship is a floating Las Vegas casino hotel on the water. More things to do than we had time.

Did that same trip in May. Loved all the stops in Alaska and the float plane ride in Juneau, but too damn many people on that boat!

Good for you Bub...

I do that trip ever couple of years during the Fall months on the Alaska Marine Highway System, usually on the m/v Columbia, but this year's trip will be on the Malaspina. I think the state ferry in the off season is probably the best bargain in Alaska, and just a whole lot of fun.

Looks like you had a great time Bub, I am with you on the wine.

My doctor told me to have fewer glasses per week so I invested in a 20oz wine glass now both of us are happy.

I talked to a couple of folks that said the same thing. One was our fishing guide in Ketchikan.
