TR: Portland PDX

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

TR: Portland PDX

Last weekend 20 April we (Girlfriend & I... and the airplane!) flew up to portland since she had never been to Oregon before. The flight was pretty smooth and only about a 15-20Kts headwind.

Mt. I can't remember & don't want to look up!

We left and it was 84 degrees, we landed and it was about 55! We landed at Portland and got the black carpet treatment, I guess red carpets get dirty easily! Anyway I know this isn't the usual place to fly into but it was worth it because at PDX, although you pay more for gas and have a $10 landing fee, you get a "crew car" for $25 a day!!! If you fly to TTD you'd have to pay more for a car.

Anyway, we stayed at a decent hotel and went to a place called the "Screen Door." ( http://www.yelp.com/biz/screen-door-portland )(Burson & Zane...others in PDX area, if you haven't been there you need to check it out) Amazing food at a really cheap price.
The next day we drove out to Multnomah falls and enjoyed a nice hike to the top, even in the misty weather! Image

After that we went back cleaned up and went to a place near downtown called "Simpatica Dining Hall." (http://www.yelp.com/biz/simpatica-dining-hall-portland) Probably some of the best eggs bennies I've ever had! Finally we headed to a place called voodo donut to wrap up our day in Oregon and head off to WA.
Leaving PDX was pretty easy and of course I had to file IFR due to the weather between Portland and the Richland, WA being less than steller. I did pick up a little ice, but got on top pretty quick. It was pretty up there!

We visited with friends then the next day I played a game of golf and we headed back to the warmer, but not as great, state of CA.

The weather was smooth and the girlfriend has gotten a lot better with the long trips and even turbs. She's a keeper!

Ps. Sorry I didn't have time to meet up with anyone :( ...next time
