Training short field landings in the CJ 6

Not in the backcountry yet, but soon.
Pretty impressed with the short field performance of the Nanchang, getting off the first 1200ft exit not a problem.

Currently based at a 5,000ft airport very wide ,but will move to a 2800ft 22ft not so wide airport.
So practicing to be precise .

Lenght wise wont be a problem, but 22ft it is narrow so trying to minimize the flare, since the nose blocks the view.

What I am trying to do is being centered before flare and once nose high and blind look to the sides.

Any tips on narrow blind landings are welcomed.(crosswinds will be very challenging)

Learn how to fly the plane from the back seat with a big guy up front. Then, when you transition to the front seat, it’ll be easy with the additional sight cues you’ll have available.

Thats totally true, it will make normal landings piece of cake.

Once on final, use rudder only for runway alignment. This way you will find even slight crosswinds. Now aileron only to check drift while rudder only for runway alignment. Using coordinated turns for runway alignment will hide slight crosswinds. Slight crosswinds are more dangerous for this reason

Curious what airport you're moving it to--
I'm not familiar with any paved Puget Sound airports at 2800' but only 22' wide.

FWIW a friend of mine used to fly his Pratt 1830-powered Yak 11 into Diamond Point airpark,
and this was back when it was only 20' wide. (it's 24' now).

BTW your video appears to be shot at Darrington.
In case you're not aware,
there's a good eatery right acrss the hwy from the transient parking ramp.
The Hawks Nest, kind of a sports bar I guess.
They had a tasty steak as a lunch special when I was up there a few months ago.

Fall City airport
Yes been to that restaurant many times, pretty good, and Darrington setting and scenery is pretty amazing.

I knew you based your 182 there-- never been in there myself,
but the SEA sectional seems to indicate that 1WA6 is only 1600' long.
But the AFD on my Avare app says it's 3000' x 25'. And you say 2800' x 22'.

On ForeFlight, there is a comment from five years ago that says it is 2200 ft. paved and 800 ft. grass at the west end.
