My heart goes out to Vic and all the pilots and families out of Beale.

The pilots made it out of the plane, they may be OK. Their spacesuits would have protected them if they punched out at high altitude. Prayers sent for them and their families.
I have seen the U2's at Beale. Once I got to see one on climb-out while I was transitioning their airspace. Sumbeech pulled out at like a 45 degree angle and was just gone baby gone. What a sight.

Contact and I were headed that way to play with ridge lift when we heard about the crash. They issued a TFR while we were in the air. My heart goes out to those guys, sounds like one didn't make it.

Messaged with Vick-- he was not involved, but of course knew the pilot well and is feeling pretty down at the moment.

Half a century spent proving “it is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”

Please send all of our sincerest heartfelt condolences to Vick and his "other" aviation family. Those guys up there fly just about the most demanding airplane in the world.
