Yeah, judging from the damage...it's doesn't seem survivable.

I was there seconds after it happened. It was at Oshkosh on the final day as everyone was leaving. The picture posted was taken AFTER the co-pilots body was removed. That is why the plane seems broken in the middle. It was cut to get his body out. I was talking to someone nearby and didn't see the pilot get out, but several people standing there said he walked away seemingly unhurt. I have earlier pictures of it before the rescue crew cut up the plane but won't post them.
Not nice to see as debris went everywhere.

See the local EAA Chapter 245 in Ottawa http://eaa245.dhs.org/

"On Sunday, July 30, just after noon, Bill Reed and Gary Palmer were in the process of leaving Oshkosh to fly back to Ottawa. They were taxiing to the runway in Bill's RV-6, with Bill in the pilot's seat. During one of the periods that they were stopped waiting for the planes ahead to move forward, they were overrun by a Grumman TBM Avenger. The prop of the avenger worked its way through the fuselage of the RV to the cabin, where it struck Gary, killing him instantly. Although the prop damaged the pilot's seat behind Bill, Bill was uninjured and has since safely returned to Ottawa.

The chapter 245 executive will be contacting members who do not have email access by telephone to pass along this news."

A terrible accident - Gary was a very active guy in the local aviation community and had been chapter president for the last 10 years.

Boy, was I thinking of this very scenario while taxiing for departure at OSH the day before this accident. Lots of people in a hurry, nose to tail, people programming GPS units, etc. etc.

Terrible accident, and what a terrible way to end the event.

Be careful out there folks.
