Not trying to be a smart ass, but where to the wires go? If you follow them it should answer your question.

Re: Unknown switch in Tcraft engine compartment

I flew a 206 Cessna that had those in the engine compartment, they were called Bahamas Switches. Grounds the mags to prevent theft. Didnt think they looked FAA approved, but the plane was there when we got done fishing, so I guess they did the job. I didnt think there was a lot of call for T-Carts in the drug runners circles, but could be mistaken. 8)

I was going to say "for the intercom", or "starter"... but then, that would of just been 'smart assed'. Mag grounding switch would defianetly make the most sense.

The photo is from a well known aircraft sales site.

If I'm going to put a three dollar switch in the mag ground circuit I'm putting it someplace cool, not right behind the cylinder head.

Wait a minute. That's not a switch. That's the end of the rod that holds the baffles in place. #-o

Re: Unknown switch in Tcraft engine compartment

Yep, it's a threaded steel rod with a nut. Standard T-craft baffle retainer. But this one has a tube covering the rod over the cylinders, so it is difficult to understand.

With clothing, the opposite of NOMEX is polypro (polypropylene cloth and fleece).

Re: Unknown switch in Tcraft engine compartment

We've got two switches in the cockpit of the G2 I fly that nobody knows anything about. Mechanics, Flight Safety, other pilots, wiring diagrams. No clue. They don't seem to do anything either.

But Zane, do cultural references work when you have to explain them? :D

(Besides, how much Stable and or Seafoam would you need to keep gas viable in a post-apocalyptic world?)
