Unsolicited Plug - Aircraft Magneto Service

My mags were due for their 500hr, so I sent em off to Cliff and Don per a recommendation by Halestorm. Turns out they are amazingly awesome guys with great customer service.

Worth giving them a plug - http://www.aircraftmagnetoservice.net/

Re: Unsolicited Plug - Aircraft Magneto Service

I'll second the plug. I had them go through my mags ( aka "500 hour inspection") a couple months ago. The bill was more than I expected / hoped for, but they look & work great and the turnaround was only two days. I wish them well in their new location, but I hate to see them move as their old place was on Bainbridge Island less than an hour's drive from me. A couple pilots at our airport live on Bainbridge, and they did a lot of magneto ferrying for the local mechanic.

FWIW Cliff explained to me that an "overhaul" must be done per the manufacturer's overhaul manual which spells out a list of parts that MUST be replaced-- whether they need replacing or not. A 500 hour inspection is the same as an overhaul, except that they only replace the parts that actually need replacing. So the 500 hour inspection isn't cheap-- but it is cheaper than an overhaul.
