I weigh airplanes so I have little advantage bare airframe with 2 seats , pponk 3 blade,no fuel - depends on amount of radios ,tires , interior etc. I'd guess 1645 empty .

Early 180's are the hardest to guess weight on. I know of several examples that have a 'real' weight in the high 1500's, we've all seen examples that weigh in the high 18's... and people wonder why I try and watch the weight... Pponk or not 300#s makes a huge difference.

There is an operator in the McCarthy area that has a '53 set up very much like yours, except it has been on an extreme diet... I have seen that plane where most cub drivers wouldn't go

Not sure what change the later model cowl / exhaust etc made, and not sure which flavor of Ti gear you have, but I would guess you'll come in around #1795. I'm probably underestimating since you have hydraulics, and IFR gear...

Don't be disappointed at the outcome, as many have said, it will almost certainly weigh more than you expect.

Today was a REAL good day...except she did not take to the air...

She did however fire up like a brand new engine and purrrrrred like a kitten. Man she sounds good. Had a small leak but that was due to a loose fitting that was not tight and she even got weighed. The only reason we did not fly was due to the VERY HEAVY WIND and thunder storms in the Sierra's today. Currently raining hard as I type this.

Yes Brian...I will be flying with you guys NEXT weekend! This weekend I will be doing circles around the airport very low to the ground at full throttle for as many hours as my tail feathers will take for the break in process...

To answer another question, I kept my exhaust (per Steve Knopp's request) as he said mine was in great shape and to spend the money on gas.

Just to add to this...My old allowable weight was 2550 before the Wing X....ITS NOW 3000 lbs!!!!

That means with 91 gallons of fuel (full) I am still going to have 774 lbs to work with...I never fly with that much gas unless its Alaska bound

What were the rules? Closest without going over? Think my 1820# was it then? Jeremy was close, would have been cool if he shacked it, he was pretty damn close.
