Upgrades: Photo Gallery is up

THIS IS AN INTERIM VERSION OF THE WEBSITE.

March 9th, 2009
I put the photo gallery back up. Let me know if you encounter any new problems that didn't exist before.
Please don't comment on cosmetic stuff because this is temporary. Thanks.

As you have probably noticed, the site is back up but in a limited capacity. Currently only the forum and chat work. There is no style or "look" to the pages, it's very basic. This "look and feel" is just a theme I downloaded. The buttons it uses for EDIT and QUOTE post are icons, and not very easy on the eyes. I will fix this soon.

All photos and albums are safe and still located on the server, but I haven't integrated the photo gallery with the forum yet. I have some larger plans for the site that include adding some new features, as well as redesigning the homepage to be more useful.

Inter-forum links don't work if they used the old url which had "phpBB2" in it. I will find a workaround for that soon.

For the time being, we'll just have to make do with having fun with text.

You may also see garbled code where there used to be a Youtube video. I will get around to fixing these, but the method for posting Youtube videos has changed for the better (simpler.) I'll post a How-To on that soon.

The first time you login to this new version of the forum software, you'll have to re-accept the Terms of Use. Please read them carefully, they are specific to BCP.

Thanks,
Zane

Another question? How do you find the chat? I cheated in by clicking on chat in your above post, but can't find a chat button. Did I forget everything in a few days?

Hi Zane,

Somebody hit it right on... "dude, you cut off our supply" .... It is hard on the eyes now... but I have a feeling this is going to be really good. It was funny to see all the posts roll in on the change! Can't wait to see it all come together! Keep up the good work!

Take care, Rob

It's either 1) stare at this for a week or three, or 2) stare at the "site down" page. :) I figured you guys would appreciate something functional in the interim.

Terms of Use can be viewed here, but there is link at the end of the sentence which asks you to accept them on the first login.

PC- The chat address is easy to remember: Backcountrypilot.org/chat

Sorry if you need glasses after a few weeks of looking at this.

Re: Upgrades: We're back...kind of

Thanks again for all the work you do around here, Zane.

Looking forward to the new upgrades, especially if it includes a tag line: "Best viewed in 3-D!".

That would be cool, particularly the videos.

Kudos, Zane for all you do.

I can only relate my experience on Sunday, looking outside and saying $#^&#)*, still storming, can't go fly, then firing up the laptop and finding out BCP was down......Us flying/BCP junkies can't take that elevated level of stress all in one session!

I actually got some work done, though. Who'd of thunk it?

p.s. Will the new format be kinder to mobile platforms? I can't imagine what my data bill must be, checking BCP from the road all of the time. This interim format doesn't properly display at all. The old one just took up a lot of bandwidth, mobile wise.

Actually your hosting is fine. Looks like a firewall issue at work. Loads super quick at home.

Internet Explorer or Firefox?

iPhone is Safari, which usually behaves better than IE.

I don't have the same links in Photo Gallery that I do on the forum page. I'll those right now.

Re: Upgrades: Photo Gallery is up

I have IE and on the forum page I don't see the upper links. (no photo link)
Sounds like I need to change something on my end?
