User gallery problems

If anyone experiences problems viewing the user galleries, send me a note. Tonight both jmtgt and I experienced an error that said "There are no user galleries." But it seems to have magically fixed itself.

Don't hesitate to write me...I pride myself in having the tightest ship around...even if only 10 of us are on board!

Click the log out button. In Firefox, go to Tools > Options > Privacy and dump your cache, your cookies, all that. Close Firefox completely(including the downloads window) and restart.

I was only able to recreate this error once, since then it has worked fine on all my computers, with me logged on and logged off, and with a test user as well.

Zane, I get the No user Galleries after going to the gallery, to user galleries, then trying to go to page two. After that I cannot see the User Galleries until I reload my browser. IE 6.0 on XP pro machine.

Mark,

If it works ok after you reload the browser, it's probably a caching problem. Since I upgraded the gallery software, the cookies it uses might be slightly different.

In IE, go to Tools > Internet Options. On the General tab, click Delete Cookies, then Delete Files. On the Privacy tab, is your privacy setting higher than Medium? I'm not sure if that affects it, since any surfer should be able to view the User Galleries without being logged in, but it's worth a try.

I suggest using Firefox over IE. It's a far superior browser and more secure. You never get spyware or browser hijacks because those are targeted at IE. Google "firefox" and click the first link. Easy install.

Alright... I was able to recreate the problem myself again (so frustrating when I don't get the error, it's harder to fix!)

I upgraded a few files from the Coppermine developers. Try it now, once again: delete cookies, restart browser to be safe. Fixed it for me.

Yep. For some reason with this fix they did away with multiple pages of user galleries, so what you're seeing is correct, John.

Mark-

I run Windows about half the time (have to to be able to use the good graphics applications) and I consider running Firefox a safety measure. I don't think I could live without the tabbed browsing, either. When you install it, it even imports all your IE bookmarks! :) Oh, and did I mention LIVE bookmarks?

Thanks for testing the gallery problems, guys.

Hey, they're back, and I didn't even have to delete my cache or eat a cookie!

Live bookmarks are how I keep track of what's going on here...a very nice feature that you've implemented very well. You can have my tabs when you pry them from my cold, dead, fingers.

Ok,

I'm now enrolled in the IE 12 step program.

Step one was to admit I was an IE user.
Step two Download Firefox
Step three Merge Bookmarks
Step Four organize bookmarks
Step Five start using Firefox
Step six delete/uninstall IE (I have not been able to do this,,, yet)
I'll work on the other six once I learn my way around FF.

I have not used IE for 12 hours now!

Where is my support group and sponsor??? ;-)

Hey Echo Alpha,

Don't even try uninstalling IE, it's a waste of time. Besides, IE is still handy to have around because there are still a few websites around that will only display properly with IE.

If you do any research or stock trading on the web your gonna love the tabbed browsing of Firefox.

Day three...

Going cold turkey,,, no IE whatsoever...

Cold sweats, shakes, it's getting bad.

If only I had known, I would not have messed with IE. I thought I could get away with being a "social" IE user. First just weekends, then once in awhile during the week. The sad thing is, it's the family of the user that really pays. The pop-ups, the viruses, the constant security upgrades,,, how could I have done that to them ? :-)

Ok Mark, now that you've kicked the icky habit, try this with your metaphoric methadone:

1) In the address bar, type "onion"
2) CTRL + ENTER
3) Firefox kicks ass.

That's right, automatic www and .com
SHIFT+ENTER does .net
CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER does .org

You're high on life, man!

Zane,

That is very cool ! I actually tried Firefox about a year ago and for some reason went back to IE. Glad to see they have continued to upgrade it. Hopefully it won't become a target.
