Utah Backcountry Strips: Link to pics, videos & trip report

Last weekend a friend and I flew my experimental Super Cub out to W of Moab, Utah. We flew into and visited a number of backcountry strips that were mostly all created during the uranium mining boom of the 1950's. Most of the strips are now informally maintained by pilots through a cooperative agreement with the BLM. We flew out Saturday morning and returned Monday morning. Camped two nights.

Thanks for the wonderful trip report. Great photos and video. I would like to know more about your plane. What modifications, statistics, etc.? I did watch your video of your stick connector. Beautiful workmanship and a big improvement. I want to know more about what you have done to that gorgeous plane.

@ Tedwaltman:

Great photos and thanks for posting.

In recent weeks there have been some really great posts here with photo collections from Stehekin, WA, Brainerd, MN, and of course the Alaska escapades of ZZZ and Barnstormer.

For many BCP members who fortunate to live out West, I suppose such amazing scenery is common. You are really blessed. For others like me who are stuck waaaaay back East in various urban corridors, such images are just mind boggling,

For me, Nashville. Tennessee is some city out West somewhere. 8)

Again, thanks for the great images and I hope everyone will continue to upload their amazing travel adventures.

My heartfelt and sincere "Thanks" to those that replied here. MUCH appreciated. I'm always open to sharing adventures if any of you want to join up for a flying adventure!

I built an experimental Mackey SQ-2 Super Cub. IO-375 engine from Aero Sport Power out of Kamloops. Electronic ignition. Airflow Performance throttle body & related injection system. Stewart Systems glue & paint (like their glue; hate their paint). Build experimental cargo pods shown at www.eaerofab.com. Cruise anywhere from 80 to 95 mph depending on fuel burn. Report on my Alaska trip last year under the "Featured trip reports" section of this site.

Email me if you want more info/questions, & thank you all again!
