Valdez 2017

I was in Home Depot yesterday and was shocked to see the XMas stuff in full bloom already. Seems its getting earlier and earlier. WTF???

So I said to myself... if they can do it with XMas, why not start a bit early on my AK plans for May.

Just found this nice mashup from 2016 Valdez.

Re: Valdez 2016

We recently lost Dave McRae, a friend and fellow aviator, in a tragic accident. It was nice to see him in this video flying his porter. Fly safely out there.

Anyone have plans on going? I may try to fly the Wagon out from Boston.

Re: Valdez 2017

I have the option next year for an AK trip either the first week of May, Memorial Day weekend, or Summer Solstice. I just won't be able to make all of those weeks.

As much as I would like to attend the Airmen's Show and Valdez, I'm leaning toward a little later in the year.

Go with KG later in the summer, like the time around solstice. Valdez is great, don't get me wrong. You have been up here during that time before, so you know what it's like. But your options are so much more limited with many of the fun landing areas still covered in snow.

Fly up commercial for the trade show. Fly around with Larry and end in Valdez. Then bring the wagon up in the middle of June and fly around AK. Heck, I'll even join up with you.

Great recaps. Thanks for sharing. The angle of climb on Robbie's superstol is incredible.
