Valentines Day Lunch run

Just a quick and dirty report. On Valentines, I sent out a bomb text to round up an accomplice or 2 and loaded up the family for a lunch run. We left FTG around 1330 with 3 185s headed for Burlington, Co (KITR). They have a super nice facility if you ever get weathered in on the eastern plains with at least 1 courtesy car. We drove in to town and sat down at Restaurant Panaderia for some good Mexican. We've been making the run here for mexican at least every other month since last summer and are never let down.

I also got to try out my new Hero4 silver on the wing. I'm still trying to figure out how to turn this thing on, but my valentine in the right seat handled running it with my iPad and I spent 10 minutes editing and threw together a short vid for fun. Heres a few pics and another youtube to waste time at the office today.

Somehow I set this album to private, can't seem to undo that. Sorry about the links instead of putting them right on the post.

Anyhow, thanks for checking it out. I'm still learning the go pro, but we are flying a bunch these days, so I'll get more practice.

Re: Valentines Day Lunch run

Thanks for the notice, sorry I couldn't make the trip. I'll have to give ITR a try soon, let me know when you head back for some mexi food.

I like the video perspective. It's nice and smooth, I look forward to more.

Oh, and Happy Birthday! \:D/

Re: Valentines Day Lunch run

My Valentines Day run was a little different--sorry, no pix or video to share. Last Fall I had donated a scenic flight as an item to be auctioned at my church's annual auction. The purchaser contacted me, and we had the flight planned for October, but my annual was scheduled and took much, MUCH longer than expected--got the airplane back 2 weeks ago. So I spent some time getting current, and then on Valentine's Day took my passengers, a wife, husband, and teenage daughter, up over the Red Feather Lakes area, then down the Front Range over Ft. Collins.

Wife was in the front, and she wanted to fly. When she asked, I just lifted my hands and said, "your airplane". She did fine--for the very first time any of them had ever been in a small airplane. She flew for about 20 minutes, and then we headed back to Greeley, where I impressed them with my fantastic landing. :)

The best part: she said she'd been thinking about it, but now for sure she wants to learn to fly! I gave her the usual explanation of costs and time, and she's going to rearrange funds and schedule so that she can get started soon.

So I'd have to say that was one Valentine's Day trip which was a total success.

Nice, did you mount the camera to an inspection cover?

Re: Valentines Day Lunch run

Thanks Matt! I'll be in touch next time we go. I'm trying to build a better email bomb list for these runs.

Well done Cary! I love hearing about folks getting excited about flying.

I took a few extra inspection covers I had around from projects and mounted go pro mounts to them at various angles so I can have a lot of flexibility with different perspectives.
