Vashon Island (and Hood Canal) grass strips

On a sunny day in Seattle a couple weeks ago, we went out to explore some of the local grass strips.

Nice video. I think I heard a buddy of mine on the radio at about 8:00.
Also think i saw Flyhound taxi by at about 16:40.
On another note, except for Vashon Muni,, these are private strips.
I checked Airnav & Wax Orchards, Vaughns, & Rocky are all listed as private, prior permission required. I know I've been told that Wax Orchards does not welcome uninvited pilots. I see you were visiting someone at Vaughns, maybe you were invited at all three, I dont know.
I do know several people who live on private strips, some have a "no drop ins" policy and dont appreciate it when people do so.
My own policy is not to land on PPR airstrips unless Ive been knvited or waved in from the ground. Just saying.

I called all three private strips in advance and followed their procedures. As i mentioned in the video, two of the managers invited us to stop and say hello. Very friendly folks. Thanks to Bob and Nancy Hancock at Vaughan Ranch and John Mercer and his friend, Mark, at Rocky Bay. Also, a shout out to Hans Youngmann at Wax Orchard.

Beautiful day for flying, so nice in Seattle on those sunny windless days after the systems blow thru.

I own the lot at Vaughn on the west side at the top of the runway where you turned around. It's really an easy strip, just remember to land north and takeoff south! Also we're currently trying to restore the turf on the lower third of the runway so it's best to touch down about 7-800' up if able.

I need to try that Rocky Bay strip someday, looks like fun!
