VG's

Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?

VG's

Anyone had experience removing VG's and re using them? How hard are they to pull off and use again. Looking at putting them on a 206 with the old wing but with the view one day of putting on the Sportsman Cuff. Just don't have the budget to do both at once.

Re: VG's

Just do the Sportsman, and don’t look back. It’s a MUCH more effective mod than VGs on a Cessna wing.

Re: VG's

I have VG's on my stock wing. They are a vast improvement over the stock early model wing alone. I am hoping to do the sportsman this fall and will have to remove the VG's. I don't see a way to remove them without destroying them. I have been told you can call Micro VG and have them sell me just the wing kit for pretty cheap since I already have them installed and STC'd to my plane.

Re: VG's

I guess I'd ask, why not do the Sportsman first then? I've had the Sportsman and WingX on 2 wagons now. The Sportsman is not terribly pricey or difficult to install. It's a good modification. I never have done VGs yet though.

Re: VG's

I have Micro Aero VGs. I recall hearing that they will sell you a kit for a few hundred dollars to redo parts of the installation, assuming you have bought the original STC already. It included the positioning screens, glue, and VGs. Might be worth a call to your VG supplier to ask.

They call it a repaint kit. I always just order direct from micro, easy to deal with and they'll make sure it's the right thing you want to order.

Re: VG's

Thank you. We were thinking of adding them primarily to help elevator effectiveness on the small tailplane C206. I think we will go ahead and worry about adding the Sportsman later.

I'm really curious about this statement. What area of flight are you finding a lack of effectiveness? I can honestly say I've never had a complaint about this. Maybe when I am close to empty and by myself it's not quite as effective, but keeping some power on helps a lot. But if I'm loaded I don't even need to use my whole range of trim on landing as the tail is low anyway.
Sorry for the drift from VGs, I'm just very curious what I'm missing with my small tailed 206.
