Video: Did You Feel It

My latest video. Scouting for bighorn sheep in the high country yesterday morning.

Re: Video: Did You Feel It

A video like that is a great way to start the day. Darin, your videos are so inspirational. They somehow just keep getting better!

Side note: did u take the owner of the SQ2 up on that flight? What a cool airplane. Loved the camera angle inside the plane. That's one of my favorites.

Re: Video: Did You Feel It

Thanks, Evan. It's impossible not to enjoy a flight like this from the cockpit, but it makes it even more fun to know others enjoyed the ride too!

The SQ owner was with me on this flight. He has the sheep tag, so that has given us a good excuse to do quite a bit of flying lately. Ironically, in addition to not being a pilot, he's not an e-mail guy either. One of these days I'll have to try to get him to watch some of these pretty videos his plane is making. :)

Nice work! again. How did you set up the internal shot and what video equipment/apparatus are you using?

Yep. He's a great American success story--a brilliant guy who worked hard and earned every penny he ever made (he still wears overalls most days). He likes flying because planes allow him to do the kind of hunting and fishing he enjoys, but he hasn't ever really shown any interest in becoming a pilot himself. He has the SQ for small missions and the Bush Hawk for big ones, and I'm the lucky SOB who gets to fly them both for him. I know--I can't believe it either. Needless to say, I try pretty hard to make sure I'm available anytime he wants to go somewhere!

Outside shot came from my trusty original Drift. That has been my go-to camera, especially in low light. I had a Go Pro on the other wing too, but it failed me (as it has done before). Inside shot was a GoPro stuck to the overhead glass with a suction cup Swingle gave me (thanks again Greg, if you're out there).

Both GoPros I'm using are basically loaners. If I was going to buy another camera, I'm pretty sure I'd go with the Drift. It has worked really well for me.

Re: Video: Did You Feel It

Beautiful video. I'm starting to agree about the GoPro. I wanted to do some video this morning and it crapped out on me. Would only record about 10 or 15 seconds or so at a stretch. Going to try to upgrade the memory to a higher grade. I just bought a cheap one initially. I don't think it's fast enough.

Re: Video: Did You Feel It

I've had the 10 second crapout problem, among others. You probably need to do a full delete in order to reformat your card. That worked for me when I had that problem, but not before missing out on some really cool video. Argh...
