Video Flight to Idaho City

I shot this a couple of weeks ago when we took some friends to lunch at Idaho City. I had a delicous fried egg and bacon sandwich at Trudy's Kitchen on the highway. Take the bridge near the windsock across the creek, and follow the path east to the highway. Trudy's Kitchen, and a couple of other restaurants are nearby.

Nice video, although I didn't know you could get the prop to run backwards on a 182.

Idaho City is only 65 nm south of McCall, and well worth visiting if you happen to be in the area to fly the back country. It has a large number of buildings dating from the late 1800s when it was a mining town, some fun restaurants, and an interesting museum. Everything in town is within easy walking distance of the airstrip, and there is a bathroom facility at the upper end of the airstrip, although I don't know if they keep it open year round.

For those planning a visit in the summer, density altitude concerns would probably dictate landing upstream instead of downstream like in the video because there is a bit of slope to the runway.
