Video of flight to Pine, Idaho

This is a video from a flight I took today from Jerome to Pine, then to Fairfield for a hamburger. The view on the take off and climb out from Pine over the Anderson Ranch Reservoir was gorgeous. The water was like glass. Take a look.

Fritz,
Nice video...looks like a great day of flying!

Any chance you could upload some information (video, photos, description, etc) for Pine and Fairfield to shortfield.com. The database doesn't currently have any information for those airstrips.

Let me know if you have any questions about uploading content to shortfield.

Thanks,
Chris

I enjoyed the video Fritz! Especially set to the music of Enya. A favorite artist of mine also! Not sure about those curly fries though! 8)

Next up is a bacon and egg sandwich at Trudy's Kitchen in Idaho City. It was delicious. But not for another week. I have already used up my free 500 MB of video upload/week at Vimeo.

Nice vid. One thing though, unless you took a 45 minute detour southeast, that wasn't the City of Rocks, which is found in southern Cassia county.

Thanks for sharing.

While aviation has made the world a smaller place, if you fall, it's still hard to miss!

Grassstrippilot: You are correct that there is a "City of Rocks" southeast of Burley, but you will be surprised to learn that there is also a "City of Rocks" north of Gooding. Here is a copy and paste from the BLM web site:

http://www.blm.gov/id/st/en/fo/shoshone ... oding.html

"City of Rocks is an area of unusual and highly scenic rock formations. Erosion has carved fascinating spires and hoodoos from the underlying deposits of solidified volcanic ash. Excellent hiking, sightseeing and solitude.

Location: About 15 miles north of Gooding on Highway 46, turn west at the BLM sign for City of Rocks. Follow the signs and travel about 7.5 miles on a generally well-maintained dirt road, which is suitable for passenger vehicles if conditions are dry."

You learn something every day.

I stand corrected. Being born and raised in the Burley area, and having spent 6 years fighting fire in southern Idaho (a good part of the time around that area north of Gooding), this is the first time I have ever heard of it. There is definately some rough terrain in that area. And some great rock rolling canyons. (Boredom sets in on day two or three of fighting fires so you have to find something to do.)
