WA to WY in a 170B
Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!
Wow... The wind blows over there in east Wyoming ???
Congrats on your purchase and enjoy the 170.... Zane took great care of it...

Ben, are you related to John Haas? He used to live in southwest Washington and flew a 150TD with a O-320 in it. I remember him talking about moving back to Wyoming somewhere...

No. I moved here from Fla about 20+ years ago. Not too many Haas's here either.

Well from the former former former owner, Congrats on the purchase of a really nice flying 170. The trip report is great too. I expect you paid more for it than I did. $15,500.00 in 1981. Better than the stock market!. All the best with your new purchase.

It's an E model and mine's a D but physically it's very similar to mine. They are a fun airplane -- not as STOLy as a Cub but faster and pretty sporty to fly.

Wow its cool to hear from someone who owned the plane 30 years ago. I was just looking through the logs earlier today and was wondering about all the places its been. It would be neat to hear any stories or see any pictures you have from flying it in the past.

I met a former owner of my 170 at the Evergreen Fly-in some years ago. He was an A&P & had been responsible for a substandard engine overhaul (incorrect connecting rods used, including the one that failed in flight on me! & a few other things), along with some undocumented mods. I held my tongue-- spilt milk, water under the bridge, etc.....

Ok.Picture explanations.
First one is taken at the Hinton Alta. strip with the Rocky Mountains in the background. The 170 on the right of the picture belonged to my brother-in-law. He has a 140 like your dads, only it is probably the most original 140 in the country. Still polished ( sort of) with the stripe, and nordo.
Second is said brother-in-law and myself on the day I bought it in May 1981. Picture is at Oshawa Ont. where It was based. ( i'm the one holding the propeller).
Third is taken at the Turtle Lake Sask strip. The one I have an aerial pic. of posted in the "where did you fly today" thread.
I really don't have that many pictures of the plane. More taken from the plane.
Interesting to see your old pride and joy movin on and around. I'd be feeling like Zane if I did't have the Cherokee.
