Not a misprint or spelling error, I just got back from one, at KPIH for long time ISU vo-tech aviation instructor and in his off hours long time EAA/homebuilt airplane guru, John Bakken. John was THE MAN for over 25 years or longer in our area for anything aviation related. It was extremely fitting the wake took place in the vo-tech hangar, also there was a lot of people there and the room was needed.
About 15 or 20 planes flew in, me included. That the weather was perfect was a nice coincidence, absolutely beautifull.
There are a whole lot of A & P's that have gone through the ISU program, and John was the head guy for a lot of years until his retirement. I never safety wire or bend a cotter pin without thinking he might see it some day, so I better do it right. A super guy, he simply had a unexpected massive heart attack, with no prior lingering illness, not a bad way to go I suppose.
