Re: Waterskiing a nose gear?

That video of the Amphib with the gear extended came to mind when I considered this stunt STOL. Interesting you should post it.

Re: Waterskiing a nose gear?

Ok, something to be said when people in the know say "don't do it".
And I never really doubted that Dave is a little brighter than his buddy's.
But..... :) here is the thing that makes me think it's doable (in Daves airplane) [-o< #-o :)
A tail dragger, even with smaller tires takes a lot of forward stick to hold it on the water (unless slow) and it's like concrete, even on one tire around a corner.

The amphib's tires never roll far on that concrete....

Humor may not make the world go around, but it certainly cheers up the process... :)
With clothing, the opposite of NOMEX is polypro (polypropylene cloth and fleece).
Success has many fathers...... Failure is an orphan.

The three most dangerous words in aviation: "hey watch this". Add "hold my beer" if more danger is required.

Seems like a good way to win a Darwin award if it went badly. I've soaked my airfilter pretty good on wet sod. You could shoot a roost right up into the intake fairly easy.

What is the matter with you guys. Done it in the 182B twice. No crap. Just do short final in reverse. :D

And I loved the comment "I am also pretty sure they kept the nosewheel out of the water until they hit the gravel " after they hit the gravel was the nose wheel still out of the water. =D>
