Web server error: "FORBIDDEN"

I have just replaced the HD in my computer and now getting the following effor message when I try to access the webside.

"FORBIDDEN"
"You don't have permission to access/on this server.

Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encoutered while trying
to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request."

So, what do I need to do to my computer so that I can access Backcountrypilot.org??

Thanks for the help.

Re: FORBIDDEN

Not sure. Your hard drive doesn't have much to do with your access to remote servers though. How are you posting this message? Has the problem gone away?

Occasionally the server pukes a little bit. I just read that the host had a denial of service (ddos) attack earlier today, so that may be the reason it errored at that particular time.

Many security exploits on servers happen when they have a catastrophic error, which is why our web server is set to deny a request in the event that it's experiencing an error. Hence the term "forbidden." It's just an Apache web server thing.

Sorry for the inconvenience, hopefully it was short lived.

Re: FORBIDDEN

I'm disappointed right now. With a thread title like FORBIDDEN , it just seems like it should have some slightly more controversial or salacious content. I think we should start a contest to see who can get this moved into Hot Air the fastest. Who's first?

Re: FORBIDDEN

Access is via the internet from the public library, as set up Al Gore. Bummer to have to go there every day to check out Backcountrypilot.

Re: Web server error: "FORBIDDEN"

I'd request that anyone making an error report like this, include the following information:

1. Operating system (Mac, Windows, Linux)
2. Browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Chrome, et al...and version)
3. ISP (Internet Service Provider) e.g. Verizon, Comcast, Roadrunner, government T3 at your FAA office, et al
4. What exactly you're doing (loading Recent Topics, Photo Gallery)
5. The exact (as possible) error message or behavior returned.
6. Confirmation that you've deleted your cookies and cache.

If I don't get the same error you're reporting, without this information I cannot help.

Thanks!

Re: Web server error: "FORBIDDEN"

I think I'll log on to my neighbor's wi-fi, sign up with a new user name, and start my own "forbidden" thread. :D

I'm confused. Are we talking about hardware or, ah, software? Or soft hardware?

I guess it could be hard software. Can she be rebooted?

What ever it was, it has been fixed or it fixed itself.

It was the same issue that was causing the problems with Android.

Please tell me what platform and web browser you are using, or it may happen again as I continue to tweak the settings to disallow certain user agents (spammers, bots, data miners, etc...)
