Westward Ho!! Ohio to Idaho

This will be an ongoing trip report. I'll post as I have time while traveling and then maybe something more official when it's all over.

I left about 9 this morning. Had some delays getting out but didn't let that bother me. So far I only made it to Indiana before hitting the wall. A slow moving front has me currently locked down in Marion Indiana. It's probably the nicest small municipal airport I've been to. Very friendly and helpful.

ImageMarion, Indiana ramp.

ImageMy landing was great. I put air in the Goodyears before I left. Apparently it wasn't enough being almost at gross.

The guys at the airport were awesome. Got it blocked up and the air out and spun the tire and tube back and had me aired up in no time. Image

Imagejust a waiting game now!

Here are some pics from the journey thus far (iPhone pics). Today is Thursday. I left eastern Ohio Tuesday morning at 9 am. I am in Columbus, MT tonight. Not too bad considering the weather that's been passing through this country of ours. I might make it to Idaho tomorrow. Image

Have a great trip.

Nothing like a long trip to make you get comfortable in higher winds in a new plane. Just remember to make her do what you want and you'll be fine.

Great stuff Crzy! Is been a real treat to watch your overall journey. You started posting before you were a pilot. We've been treated to your steady progression to pilot, then plane owner, and now your posting about this adventure. Keep the journey alive and keep telling your story.

Imagepit stop. Dillon, MT. I just talked to the nice lady at the FBO. She told me this is where the Goose that crashed last week left from after waiting out weather for two days. There's a reality check.....

He made it alright, got the iron butt award for longest distance traveled. Talked to Evan this morning, he was heading off to JC. Beautiful plane for sure.

I did make it. On the Johnson creek wifi now. Heading back tomorrow. Too much work to do!!! I have so many pictures and videos I have no idea where I'm going to start. What a beautiful place. I am so fortunate.

Meeting everyone at the fly in was awesome. We have a great community of great people.

It was great to meet you and your family as well as everyone of our other bcp'ers! Cory (wilgabeast) and his crew did a great job putting it all together.

I'll be home tomorrow. I stopped at Laramie, Wy last night and got a hotel and a much needed hot shower. I'm on the couch as we speak at the North Central Missouri Regional Airport in Brookdale, MO.

I've had awesome tailwinds the whole time 20-28kts. The flip side is that the cold front that's coming across the country has put the same tailwinds clear down to the surface. I had my shortest landing and takeoffs ever today. It was awesome!
