Wet Weather Camping at Mexican Mountain

Noreen and I took Chuck, Noreen's moms dog, camping in the airplane to Mexican Mountain in Central Utah. Chuck was fine, the weather was not. You don't really see it in the video until the end, but it was windy and rained all night long. It stopped long enough in the morning to pack up and depart before it started to rain again. We had to stop in Price and wait for the weather to improve a bit before attempting to cross over Spanish Fork Canyon. It finally lifted just enough and we made it home safely.

Zane-

I know, he's like a furry car wash sponge with eye balls. Noreen had to wash all the red dirt off his legs and face before he was allowed in the tent. It's like microfiber - it attracts and holds dirt!

It is in the San Rafael area of central Utah. The gps coordinates for this strip are: 39°01.127 N 110°27.024 W
It's a very pretty area.

The end of that video over soldier summit gives me the shivers. I guess as long as your over highway 6 life is good.
I'd hate to meet a granite wall in the crud.

Im always at 10.5k going thru there..guess I need more practice as I would have been tempted to sit it out.

Re: Wet Weather Camping at Mexican Mountain

Thanks for the comments. As far as the weather going over Spanish Fork Canyon, it was right at my comfort level. We did stop at the Price airport first and check the weather. I also called my dad, a pilot, who was on the other side of the canyon and got his opinion of the canyon from there. He said the weather was better on the Provo side of the canyon. I didn't want to make it to the top only to have it get worse on the way down. I always had room to turn around, and I'm very familiar with the canyon. Still, if someone else would have decided to not go and wait it out, I would have agreed with their decision. Better to be safe, late, stuck in Price and alive than splattered on the side of the mountain. Anyway, we made it and I never felt that we were in too tight of a spot to get out.
