What am I doing wrong?

For at least the third time lately I have logged in, (successfully) went to the bottom of a thread, keyed in on the REPLY button and got the reply screen, typed up a couple of paragraphs of reply, hit the SUBMIT button, and the whole thing just simply disappears off into the land of the lost never to be seen.

What are the possibilities? :?: #-o

If I do a reply in MS Word and paste it, then it has always worked. Hmm

Will be interesting to see if this new posting works. [-o<

Re: What am I doing wrong?

I've had it happen to me once. I think it is when two replies are posted at the same time one will get kicked off? When it happened to me there was a new post since I replied. tried going back but everything I wrote was gone.

Re: What am I doing wrong?

Had that happen a few times to me. If I write a big long post, I get in the habit of right click, drag over the whole post, and click "Copy". That way if it disappears, I can simply reply again and just "Paste" what I copied.

But, I think what happens when you hit the "Submit" button is that it goes right back to the screen you were typing the post. When it does that, scroll back down to the bottom of the page and hit "Submit" again. Should work. Or, you might be having another issue.

Re: What am I doing wrong?

The bleeding heart liberals on this site that I keep hearing about must have booby-trapped the BCP software, so that a post not to their liking never makes it onto the site. It's a conspiracy! :x

I'm a bleeding heart liberal and it happens to me all the time here. I do the Copy-&-Paste routine.

I don't have control over what you do, however.

Re: What am I doing wrong?

Over here in paradise things like that happen all the time. Lost posts, text messages not going through, phone calls ending up in the middle of the desert, funny clicking sounds when a call does go through. I think it has to do with the aliens breaking out of Roswell.

There's a variety of ways your profound words can be scattered to the voids of entropy.

1. Server malfunction. Through either heavy load of many users or network issues, your submission is not processed. Always good to copy your text to the clipboard prior to submitting.

2. You click Save instead of Submit. This saves a draft of your post but does not publish it. Some "S" words look similar, be mindful.

3. You aren't paying attention when the system shows you new posts that have occurred in the time you were composing yours. This is a nice feature as it helps you avoid embarassment by giving you the up to date latest post, but you're required to confirm by clicking Submit again on that very confirmation page. No back button usage necessary.

4. I decide that your morals, humor, politics, or knowledge are simply wrong and censor you like a good ant farmer.

Re: What am I doing wrong?

I have had it happen. If I forgot to save I just hit the back button. Then copy it and paste after I reopen a new reply screen. Sometimes if you take a big hammer and smash the shi& out of your PC you will feel better.

This is the one that used to get me all the time, and still does occasionally. I used to think that someone was vaporizing my posts, until I finally noticed the screen that said "you may wanna review your post" instead of the expected "you posted". Annoying.
