1. Things below the wing are very close.
A. There might not be room to put a wing down in a level coordinated turn.
a. An energy management turn would be safer.
b. A cross controlled, wings level, rudder turn would be safer.
2. Things to the right and to the left may be higher than we are.
A. We need to crowd the downwind higher thing so as to be able to make an
energy management turn back the way we came.
B. We cannot tolerate load factor here.
C. Downwind turns, increasing necessary bank to miss things, are
problematic here.
3. Things ahead may be higher than we are.
A. We need to plan and make use of natural as well as engine lift.
B. We need to keep the lateral flexibility to go back, if needed.
C. It is generally safer to go around, or even under, rather than over.
4. In low ground effect, we need to be proactive and dynamic (for/aft) with the
stick to stay ahead of the airplane.
5. Things outside can kill us. Things inside are not so important now.
A. The time for things inside are before entering maneuvering flight, including
takeoff and landing, and after leaving maneuvering flight.
