Wheel Bearing Grease
Have problems with your aircraft? Maybe just questions about how best to tune or adjust something? Regs or maintenance? Need to know the best way to do something?
Rebuilding a Scott 3200 TW and am curious what the prefered wheel bearing grease most people are using. I have been using the red grease for years. Forget the brand/name, the empty tub is over in the hangar.
Mobil SHC100 or 28
Aeroshell 5 or 22
Green Grease (found during a search on here)
I am due for a new tub/tube and wanted to know what is the 'flavor of the day'.

Thanks!!

Airframes Alaska will give you different answers depending on who you talk to. The common consensus is basically any synthetic wheel bearing grease will work for the tailwheel head. My mechanic is picky with things and uses the Lucas “Red n Sticky” bearing grease so I also use that. It works for nearly every application you could use grease in....

I use Aeroshell 22 for most of my wheel bearings.

Aeroshell 22 works well in cold weather.

Aeroshell 5 in mine.
That red sticky stuff is amazing at holding washers and nuts together or stuck to your finger tip for getting in tight places.
Also, a touch in the head of a Phillips screw on non magnetic screws. My tub ran out years ago and the label fell off long before that. Never thought it had aircraft application.

I used to always use the red Mobil stuff, recently switched to Aeroshell 5 on the mains and tailwheel, I really like it. My mains feel a lot smoother with the Aeroshell.
