I have a hunch the good people of the State of Nevada may be picking up the tab for this one.

Whoa

Not everything that people do out there is conected to Burningman.

I will say you have some very good eyes, he is very lucky, and I hope he changes his mind about life. He is going to be needing a new car I bet, as his other one is full of bullet holes by now if it's left out there.

Maybe the BCAH's could give a T-shirt to the one who found his car or give the shirt to the fella under the wing...looks like he was in need of one!

Bumper,

Good job and good eyes. His story brings up a good reminder that airliners are good resources. I've used them before to relay with ATC when I no longer had good radio contact. In turn, I hope I can repay the favor when someone else is in need. We always have it tuned and are listening.

On a side note, I can't believe how many intercepts I have heard over the last few months in the DC area. I have also heard a few S&R ops in progress. Makes for some interesting listening while at cruise.

At 63, they still work pretty good. At my last FAA physical, they checked at 20/13 (corrected of course). Heck, my vision is so good I can see stuff that ain't even there . . .

The story made the front page of AOPA.com today. I know you stopped and helped this guy out because that's the right thing to do and not so you could make the news, but it's good to see stories like this get heard. Thank you.

...and WE made AOPA:

At home, Morgan checked out BackcountryPilot.org, a forum he frequents, and found a posting from another pilot who had picked up his distress call, albeit broken, while flying over the Nevada-Oregon-Idaho border.

Hope we can get our house in order before the visitors arrive... :(

The rest of the story

It would be interesting to close the chapter on the story..there must be someone in this group that is law enforcement and could give us a summery of what where, when, how and why this guy was out there? What agency would have investigated this? Sheriff for the county?

windows for jetA

She will gladly fly her MiG 15 to do windows in Austin please send cash for three hours of fuel RT from KFFZ to KAUS. 400gph x 3 x 6.50/gal = $7800.00 the airplane is NC. Thats a lot less then I spend on her in a month..

Or, it could be that you are destined to fail the vision portion of your next FAA medical. Anyone who doesn't instantly catch a calypigous wench in his peripheral vision is certainly suspect!
