Re: Wingman

Not a great pic but I tried. This is a C17 shadow just about over my strip at the house. To high for a crisp shadow I guess. Image

That's pretty cool that you were in the air at the same time and got a photo of it at all! That has a high cool factor alone not to mention it was over your strip.

These are all pretty remarkable pictures but where does one find 8 identical Super Cubs on amphibious floats?

Great question, I wanna go there!

Looks like at least one and maybe two are on straight floats.

Re: Wingman

When I was stationed in Northern California, we used to enjoy flying down the Interstate, keeping our shadow directly over the road, and then try to match speed with a car, keeping the shadow directly over it... Fun to watch the cars react when they find themselves in shade on a perfectly cloudless day, then suddenly put 2+2 together and slam on the brakes because of the signs along the road "Caution: Vehicle speed monitored by aircraft."

Later on, I flew along I-10 from California to Texas, and we tried to do the same thing. Only problem was our cruise speed was about 105 knots, and some of the cars (and some of the semis) were going faster than we were (headwinds).

Re: Wingman

Nice picture Farmaule. I think when I looked at Google Map that there is a big apple orchard up the hill. Is it an individual farmer or a big company like White House?

Re: Wingman

180Marty, that is indeed a large orchard. It is owned by a huge company called National Fruit. My dad grows about a bit over a 100,000 bushels a year but his orchard is not seen in this pic.

Blackrock, all the stars didn't really align for me to get this pic. I wasn't flying the Maule I was in the 17. I want to get an air to air shot with the 2 planes but that will probably take an act of God. Some great pics guys keep them coming.
