Great video. quick question for those of you that fly the mountains, Ford lands at an off airport strip in the video that I have seen before, where is it?
Yeah, good video. I enjoyed it. Harrison Ford seems to me to be the real deal when it comes to being a pilot. He's the only celebrity I've ever heard somebody mention meeting at an airport somewhere, or who flies the cool kind of airplanes I'd fly if I had the dough. I'm not impressed with John Travolta wearing his airline pilot shirt Or any other entertainment or sports celebs I've ever heard of being associated with aviation.
I think he is "the real deal"--and a pretty nice guy to boot.
Last year at OSH I was chatting with someone at the drinking fountains, and he mentioned that earlier in the week he was walking toward the gate when a golf cart stopped, and the driver asked if he wanted a lift. He got on the back, and the driver turned to him with an outstretched hand, "Hi, I'm Harrison." Very down to earth.
Then there's the story about lady who was rescued by a helicopter from an auto accident site north of Jackson, WY. Ford was the helicopter pilot, and she didn't even learn who it was until after she was in the ER.
I spent the winter of 88/89 plowing snow and telemark skiing on Brundage Mtn. I befriended Dennis McCoy(smoke jumper) skiing and hung out with him several summers and met quite a few at the base. I was Telemarty at Brundage. Wasn't that good but had fun. Between hanging out at the McCall Air Taxi, the breakfast crowd with the guy I was plowing snow, and Dennis, he said I knew more people than he did and he lived there.
