Hi All,

I'm looking to head up to the Winifred Breaks this weekend. Anyone have recent experience out there? I spoke with Cubscout on his way back from NBAW and he said things were soft then. Hoping things have dried out!

The only rain out there recently was from thunderstorms. As warm as it's been, those strips will dry out fast. Land at Winifred and you'll get an idea of how wet things are. I think they're still asking pilots to stay off the Cow Creek strip to allow it to revegetate after it was re-worked this spring to repair and fill in ruts from vehicle damage.

Ralph Rogers lives in Winifred, if you stop there, his phone number is in the pilot lounge there. Give him a call. Gas is available there as well, card lock system, and they try to keep the price reasonable. Walk into town for a burger at the local pub.

My favorite strip in the Breaks is Heller Bottom (called Heller Ranch on the sectional, I think.) It's on the river.

Thanks for the info! After looking at the various forecasts I decided to head to Idaho for the first time instead. What a gem we have there!!
