Be thankful this saintly woman isn't your county assessor!

Re: worst airplane tax yet

GOD! Don't get me started on county assessors and airplanes. Our county assessor here in Cheyenne County Nebraska tried to tax my 7GCBC as a commercial airplane a few years back. I damned near ripped the door off the county assessors office!

Re: worst airplane tax yet

I am exempt because I'm active duty Military and a Non-Resident of California. For this I'm thankful but trying to convince the assesor of this fact with the Servicemembers Relief Paperwork is worse than if I just paid the dang thing. You would think it would be a one time thing but I've had to do it every year now and every year I've been threatened with extra fees for not paying after they sat on the paperwork for months after the suspense date.

Re: worst airplane tax yet

I used to commute in my airplane from CCR to PAO in San Francisco Bay Area, so I had hangar at one airport and a tiedown at the other. Of course, both counties wanted to collect property tax on my airplane... I finally got the other county (santa clara co) to drop it after about 6 phone calls, and then got another invoice the next year and had to do it again. Grrrr.
