WTB: Audio Panel & Coms

Hey everyone,

If anyone has, or knows of someone offloading some avionics, it looks like I'm going to be in the market for some. Here is what I'm looking for:

- Six place audio panel. Prefer a GMA 340 but will consider anything with a port for music/phone in.
- Kx 155, 14V, prefer with GS. If you've got the indicator, I might be interested in it to.
- Garmin SL30

I know it might be a long shot, but you never know.

Thanks,
Cory

If you want to go up, pull back on the controls. If you want to go down, pull back farther.

Re: WTB: Audio Panel & Coms

You might try contacting some of the big avionics installers.....they often have "take outs" that are fully functional, and they've got the test equipment to verify function as well.

Aerotronics in Billings, MT is a great outfit, and would treat you well.

Re: WTB: Audio Panel & Coms

I just upgraded my panel and have a good king digital comm I would sell for pretty cheap (think 1/2 of a KX-155).

PM me if you are interested.

Thanks- Dave

DBI, is it a nav/comm or just a comm? If Cory isn't interested I may be.

Re: WTB: Audio Panel & Coms

Cory,

If your going to spend money on putting some items in your panel, I would make one recommendation. Stay away from the KX-155. If it breaks, they tend to be beyond economic repair, or are really spendy at the least. I have had 4 turn into boat anchors in the last 3 years in my lease aircraft and I get a discount on repairs. On the up side, they are worth decent money on ebay when broken. Avionics shops part them out. The display is worth $$. The Garmin GL-30 is a slick unit. You can hook it up with a 3 wire serial interface and use your Garmin handheld for frequency and nav transfers to the radio from their X-96 series GPS handhelds. Kind of makes them like having a disassociated Garmin 650/750 for a fraction of the price. If you can afford it, get one of the P&S Engineering audio panels, tend not to be as pricey and have more features and are rack comparable with Garmin Audio panels.

Thanks Dave. I may be interested. I'll know more in a few days after I meet with my mechanic and avionics guy. I'll PM you thereafter.

Re: WTB: Audio Panel & Coms

Just an update. I found a couple of good deals on a GMA 340 as well as an SL30 and have gone with them. Thanks for all the offers and help. I appreciate it!
