WTB - C180 parts

Looking for the following parts for a '54 Cessna 180; in case anyone is cleaning out their hangar, or has a fuselage out back,

-Side steps and grab handles (the ones mounted near the firewall area)

-individual rear seats or sling seat, not the bench seat.

-Wing strut steps

-Ski attach fittings

Thanks!

Re: WTB - C180 parts

Atlee has all that (except the sling seat) stuff made from stainless better AND cheaper than you typically can get used parts for. Be worth your time to look. I bought a bunch of the stuff last spring for a project and used cracked junk was more than atlees NICE stuff.
Cheers

Re: WTB - C180 parts

I bought a set of (painted white) steps & (stainless) handles from Atlee Dodge for my 53 180 last year.
I also bought 4 boot cowl doublers, but only needed the two for the handles -- couldn't use them for the steps, due to the way the steps bolt through the boot cowl & the floor flange. Doublers were $10 each, steps $85 each, handles $85 each, plus S&H of course.

Dodge also sells the strut steps, $85 each like the other parts, but I just got some peel-n-stick non-skid and applied it to the struts in the appropriate place. Plenty good enough as long as you're not wearing your cork boots when you climb up to fuel.

The cabin floor forward of the pilot's seats has a flange which turns up and is riveted to the boot cowl. Just about all the 180/185 fueling steps I've ever seen were mounted by drilling out some of the rivets, and bolting the steps to both the boot cowl and floor flange using those holes. Like most, there's one added bolt on mine which doesn't go through the flange but is backed up inside with a fender washer. Check out a step-equipped skywagon & you'll see what I mean. I have seen only one that was different-- the step was mounted quite a bit higher and apparently was bolted only through the boot cowl, so in that case the doubler would be needed. Most people might not notice, but having installed the steps on mine I did notice and thought it looked weird.

Here's a photo of the installed step. That almost-horizontal row of rivets is where the cabin floor attaches to the boot cowl. You drill out some of them to mount the step using bolts-- AN3's as I recall. The upper left bolt is the one backed up inside with a large washer. Like I said, Dodge sells this stuff: $85 each for the steps & handles plus $10 each for two doublers = $360. Sure is handy for checking the fuel or whatever if there's no ladders handy.

Re: WTB - C180 parts

M6RV6 - thank you, looks like I found a set near home, so please sell them to the other guys. Those are what I was looking for though.

Hotrod180, thanks for the info. Exactly what I was looking for!
