WTB Engine blanket

Hello

Im looking for an insulated winter engine cover for my experimental.
A Cessna 170/172/180/185 or maybe Maule would work not too worried about an exact fit just something that will keep the heat in.

Thanks,

Bruce's Custom Covers can make anything you want. They made one for my experimental. We traded emails and phone calls a time or two and sent some pics and measurements. Fit like a glove first try. Excellent CS in my experience.

Go get a quick fix from a Thrift store/garage sale by buying a second hand sleeping bag. Maybe remove the zipper if you are worried about scratching up the paint. It'll get you by until you can get a custom fit one, plus it'll keep you warm if you get stranded someplace. :)

I’m trying to keep the cost down, I know bruce makes them but they want big $$
Great idea with the sleeping bag tip.

Thanks

Re: WTB Engine blanket

I'm particularly fond of Kennon products out of Sheridan, WY. I have a cowl cover, prop blades and spinner covers, windshield covers, pitot cover, AOA probe cover, wing cover spoilers, and window sun shields. When it came time to make cowl intake plugs, mine was the first P172D they'd ever done, so they had me make a pattern out of foam, and then charged me the same as if it was a regular set. Good people, reasonable prices, quality products. http://kennoncovers.com/

Hey,

Beautiful looking ship you got there.

With the Canadian peso losing traction against the green back, I wouldn't look south of the 49th.

Check out Arctic Covers working out of YAV. Bought a new one for the scout and the fit and heat retention are awesome. Made in Wstn Cdn where we know a little about the cold. And this company has been around forever.

Not sure what your budget is, but they are very reasonably priced.

Thanks Bellancascout

I’ll get in touch with them. Yes with our USD exchange rate it hurts to buy from south of the border.

Im willing to pay up to 500 if the product is good.

Cheers

Re: WTB Engine blanket

Budget minded?

Four of these (or similar) :

Plus one of these:

...and a few hours will do the trick. Lighter weight machines (~60-80 bucks) will do the job, but that model is actually a fairly good unit.

You can use the extra fabric to make a windshield cover too.

This is great info. I need to check them out for my C180 covers. Wincing when I think of what the exchange rate is going to add when I order bushwheels in the spring...
