XC Adventure - Day 4 - Economic Development

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

XC Adventure - Day 4 - Economic Development

For the flyers reading this narrative, you might just wanna skip this update. We did nothing yesterday except contribute to the local economy of Petoskey, Michigan. This is a picture-postcard town and we made the most of it, eating, shopping, and getting Michael a much-needed haircut. Had a couple of beers, eat fudge, played Scrabble, met friendly people. All the stuff you're supposed to do on vacation. But we'll be heading back to the plane after breakfast and we've agreed that camping is the plan for this evening. We're not sure yet of our final destination, but it will most likely be in northern Minnesota. Bowstring Lake? Tower? Anyone wanna weigh in?

Duluth is a beautiful old town.
Great airport, and if you have a chance to stay down by the harbor and the lift bridge, make sure you stop into Grandma's. It is a restaurant/bar built from a former brothel, right next to the lift bridge. You can sit on the deck drinking your beer and watching the ore boats sail by.

Oh the way you could possibly stop into Madeline Island. My son and I just returned from a 4 day camping trip there. Historic, beuatiful and quiet place to experience. It is a 14 mile long island in Lake Superior above the Wisconsin shoreline. It is due east of Duluth. After Duluth there is alway Itasca State Park, headwaters to the mighty Mississippi River. I have a 1000' strip a mile east of the parks border that you are welcome to camp.
