You know it's wintertime when you log into BCP and....

See people selling their planes, and others tearing theirs apart beyond recognition. Some just want to pass the time by trolling and some can't even log on because their seasonal internet connection won't connect. When a thread about sleep apena gets dozens of posts per day, and the "Where did you fly today" thread has been stuck on the same page for weeks. And when our fearless leader Z is talking about finding compressed hummingbird scrotum, or CHS. :?

Hang on friends, more daylight and good camping weather will be here before we know it. :)

Oh, and does anyone else miss the chat feature of BCP? :?:

There is a double edge sword to all this great promise. The way time is flying by, all that good stuff will be here "before we know it." On the other side, we will all be another year older #-o

I miss chat.

It is still flying season. I just have to head 900 miles south. In about 2 weeks I'm headed to The Chicken Strip to camp. Then to Palm Desert for a week. Probably do some breakfast and lunch runs with the likes of BigJohn, M7flyer and iceman.

Then it is over to Arizona and camp Red Creek. Probably see halfast, Rob, maybe shortfielder, Ken.

Life is good...Rob

Bringing chat back is just a matter of me finding a good solution that doesn't hammer the performance of the site. It's on the list of my things to add. Need more hours in a day.

Sorry we will miss you Rob. We will be down to Chicken Strip the first weekend in February if all goes well. If you are in the OGD area when you come to UT, give us a yell!

Meanwhile, I'm getting a little flying in and will be putting my VG kit on in the next few weeks that Santa brought to me early!

Re: You know it's wintertime when you log into BCP and....

No kidding, Matt! I was about ready to give up and just ask somebody to send me a PM and let me know once everybody got it out of their system. #-o

Having watched the level of acrimony increase on the board over the last week or two, I thought it might be a pleasant distraction to pass along this e-mail I received from a fellow BCP'r called "When Insults Had Class" :

These glorious insults are from an era before the English language got boiled down to 4-letter words.

The exchange between Churchill & Lady Astor:
She said, "If you were my husband I'd give you poison."
He said, "If you were my wife, I'd drink it."

A member of Parliament to Disraeli: "Sir, you will either die on the gallows or of some unspeakable disease."
"That depends, Sir," said Disraeli, "whether I embrace your policies or your mistress."

"He had delusions of adequacy." - Walter Kerr

"He has all the virtues I dislike and none of the vices I admire." -Winston Churchill

"I have never killed a man, but I have read many obituaries with great pleasure." Clarence Darrow

"He has never been known to use a word that might send a reader to the dictionary." - William Faulkner (about Ernest Hemingway).

"Thank you for sending me a copy of your book; I'll waste no time reading it." - Moses Hadas

"I didn't attend the funeral, but I sent a nice letter saying I approved of it." - Mark Twain

"He has no enemies, but is intensely disliked by his friends.." -Oscar Wilde

"I am enclosing two tickets to the first night of my new play; bring a friend.... if you have one." - George Bernard Shaw to Winston Churchill
"Cannot possibly attend first night, will attend second.... if there is one." - Winston Churchill, in response.

"I feel so miserable without you; it's almost like having you here." - Stephen Bishop

"He is a self-made man and worships his creator." - John Bright

"I've just learned about his illness. Let's hope it's nothing trivial." -Irvin S. Cobb

"He is not only dull himself; he is the cause of dullness in others." -Samuel Johnson

"He is simply a shiver looking for a spine to run up." - Paul Keating

"In order to avoid being called a flirt, she always yielded easily." -Charles, Count Talleyrand

"He loves nature in spite of what it did to him." - Forrest Tucker

"Why do you sit there looking like an envelope without any address on it?" - Mark Twain

"His mother should have thrown him away and kept the stork." -Mae West

"Some cause happiness wherever they go; others, whenever they go.." - Oscar Wilde

"He uses statistics as a drunken man uses lamp-posts... for support rather than illumination." - Andrew Lang (1844-1912)

"He has Van Gogh's ear for music." - Billy Wilder

"I've had a perfectly wonderful evening.But this wasn't it." - Groucho Marx

Cheers. :D

It's still camping season (in Utah). In fact, the skies and everything else is dead quiet there...with great night skies. And the flying to the ski resorts has been slow until a bit ago but steady so far.

Never noticed there ever was a chat feature.

It will be interesting to see how crowded the hot springs are, just before Thanksgiving, I called the Inyo County Rd. Dept., they were working on the N road, not done yet, S road was worse than last year, perhaps only the strip is open, someone said the tie downs were removed? Enjoy it.

Integrate Google Hangouts into the site? Nah, I guess not everyone is a Google head.
