Rememeber mine like it was yesterday. I grew up on a dairy farm in north central MN and remember anytime a plane flew over I would stop what I was doing and look up at it and dream. Unkown to me, heck I must have been 6-8 years old, a Supercub on floats buzzed the house. It belong to a man my father knew. Well, he proceeded to land at a little pothole onthe edge of our property. I don't remember how fast I got down there but I would guess it was somewhere around WARP speed!!! He gave me and my brother our first ever ride in a plane. Ever since that day I knew someday I would fly.
Ironically my next ride wasn't until the day I joined the AF. Flew on Braniff Airlines and was served Lobster in cattle car section. Those were the days!!!
Took me nearly getting killed in an auto accident before I took the plunge and started flying. Bought my first plane, a 1960 172 after about 5 hours of flight time. Soloed and got my PPL in this plane. This was back in 1987....I STILL own this same plane along with a Champ and a couple of Murphy Rebel projects. You could say I was quite bitten by the aviation bug.

On another note...I still know the location ofthat Supercub that I got my first ride in 40+ years ago. It is a 1959 Model and is on its 3rd owner. Its for sale but the asking price is $25,000 to high.
