Good stuff, I particularly like the shots at the end of people waving at the plane.

Question though: I had understood that the amish don't like having their pictures taken. Are the folks shown not Amish? Is it just at tourists towns where they get annoyed with constantly being photographed?

Wow, at 00:32 a horse drawn hay bailer. I've seen a stationary horse powered bailer but never a horse drawn.

rw2 - those were all Amish. Some do not want their picture taken. I have an Amish girl for a house cleaner, and she has been in both airplanes, but does not want her (as she calls it) "portrait" taken. I think the far away general stuff is ok?? She comes tomorrow and I was going to show her this video to get her answer about things like this. If she is all against it, I'll pull it off the net.

Yeah, I figured there must be something more going on than "no, never" or you wouldn't have posted it. I'd be curious to hear her answer if you think to post it.

When I was a kid in the 50's we spent our summers on Lake Erie, just west of Madison-on-the-Lake at Red Bird Beach. About twice a summer, we'd go down to the old Warren Playhouse (don't know if it still exists), and although I wasn't driving, I can remember the constant worry about hitting an Amish wagon. The roads were narrow 2-lane and hilly, so that we'd often crest a hill and find a slow-moving wagon right there. Especially on the return trips in the dark, often with fog in the low spots, it was a bit scary how many close calls we had--of course, maybe it was because of my step-bro's driving!

Definitely a different way of life. Sometimes I'm a bit envious--our lives have gotten pretty complicated at times.
