04AA-KMSO-04AA (AK-MT-AK)

Next week I take the 185 on her first trip under my pilotage. Headed to Missoula Montana for the AOPA Fly-in there. Gonna run the Trench both ways and hopefully the coast my place to or from Skagway on one of the legs. Both will be new country for me so excited about that.

I'd like to take a day or two and fly-fish with a guide somewhere along the way. Preferably with a drift boat but wading is fine as well. I was originally thinking the Yellowstone or Madison but it's my understanding that the rivers are high and muddy. Montana or Wyoming or somewhere in Canada along the route would be fine as well. Any recommendations or suggestions?

Not in the trench, but if weather pushes you east you know where I am...

PAGS if you find yourself on the coast. Love to meet you. Warm bed and some decent chow.

Ditto, thanks. If we can go that route we will definitely drop in whether for lunch or an overnight. Let's trade contact info, PMing you.

The Henry's Fork of the Snake is in the spring mode, but is clear and I see the guides are very active. Not a very long flight in your 185 from Missoula. Most the local guides will pick you up from the area airports. If you need more info, let me know.

That's the kind of info I'm looking for, thanks.

Fuel is very very expensive in Prince George. I would avoid it if at all possible.

Good to know. Fortunately Foreflight has Canada airport fuel prices. This and listing close-to-airport hotels and restaurants is why I still subscribe to Foreflight, even though I now fly with Garmin Pilot.
