Rob, Thanks for the photos! I wish i could have been there.
So, looks like Ray decided to put in a beautiful looking grass strip next to Lake Maule. That was not there when i was last at the factory in the summer of 05, wish it was though.
How many Maules showed up to the gathering?
Walking around that factory sure is fun :) Peter

Motorcity, that looks like David Wrights strip, though there is now a grass strip beside the floatpond at Maule Air too.
Wish I could have made the fly-in.

Hi guys, I'll keep this kinda short because my dad passed away last night.

We had the fly in Oct 12-14. We had 6 planes show. I wish there were more.

We did go to David Wright's field. What a class act David is. He is a very talented individual. He gave us a class on some basic Maule maintenance. I learned a lot.

The grass strip next to the pond is at the Maule factory.

We flew to Panica, FL. Landed on a grass strip and had dinner at a very nice restaurant.

As you see the weather could not have been better. Lots more to say but no time now.

Cheers...Rob

Thank you friends

My Backcountry Pilot friends, thank you all from the bottom of my heart. I have always lived close to my dad. It will be different with out my dad here.

Like most guys he wasn't perfect, but he taught me a lot.

My dad was a veteran of 4 years in the Navy and 4 years in the Air Force.

He also helped me with the purchase of the Maule.

Kind regards...Rob

Hi Rob, I am also sorry for you and your family. Hopefully your dad is flying around in a better place. If it wasn't for my dad i would not own a maule, it would have been the c150. Just reading this thread really makes me want to get the "Father Son Trip To ALASKA" on its way but that takes forever sometimes to actually make happen. We'll be passing through Oregon on the way when it does though and i would love to meet some other BCPs for launch or something. take care. Peter

Rob, sorry about your dad. My dad and I were the best of friends. He died the year before I got he 182. Wish I could have gotten it way before cus he just loved to fish and camp and I would have liked to take him up to moose creek.

Enjoyed giving you crap about high insurance rates at JC and am looking forward to camping with you again.

Looks like a fun fly in to the Maule headquarters. What is the next best thing west of the Rockies.

Peter and Tim, thanks for your thoughts. Whenever you come through NW Oregon (KTTD) be sure to contact me. I have extra vehicles and you can camp in my shop/apartment if you like. That goes for all you Backcountry brothers. Regards...Rob
