I don't live on the east coast anymore, but if I did I would be sure to make this event. Gordon hosts a great fly-in on an almost weekly basis, so the Fly-In and Campout is sure to be a fun event. Two nice grass runways in a beautiful location. For all you folks in the Pa area looking for a fun cross-country, this is an easy trip down the coast - you can easily stay clear to the east of the DC nightmare airspace.
From the announcement...
6/13/09-6/14/09 Saturday & Sunday: Campbell Field Airport 75th Anniversary Fly-In & Campout. “Kellam Day”. Pack your tents & sleeping bags and come celebrate 75 years of aviation history at Campbell Field Airport on the beautiful Eastern Shore of Virginia. Seventy five years ago Darrell Kellam, pilot of an English made two place bi-plane, the Avro Avian, built this little airport for people in the community to enjoy aviation. It went on to become the first public-use airport on the Eastern Shore of Virginia and has changed very little since 1933. Please join use for a weekend of aviation fun celebrating all old airports and our freedom to fly. This is a fun fly-in all are encouraged to campout and have a relaxing weekend. Re-live the excitement of grassroots aviation at the last public use grass airport in Virginia. See CampbellFieldAirport.com for all the details, a menu of all the good food we will be serving, and the evening activities.
